Adam Goltry is a bow maker, bow restorer, and instrument restorer based in Durham, North Carolina. At his workshop, Goltry Studio, Adam currently focuses on bow making and restoration. A recognized expert in his field, Adam is a member of the American Federation of Violin and Bow Makers; notably, he holds the distinction of being the first member in the Federation’s history to be admitted specifically for bow restoration.
A 2015 graduate of the Violin Making School of America, Adam has built a reputation on a foundation of rigorous training and mentorship. He bolstered his formal education by apprenticing with renowned makers Amos Hargrave and Kelvin Scott, and further honed his specialization by studying bow making with Tom Goering.
Previously, Adam was a member of the team at Triangle Strings, where he tackled innovative restoration projects alongside Jerry Pasewicz. Today, he brings that depth of experience to his own studio, serving musicians with dedication and precision. Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Adam has called Durham home for several years.
Adam has had the opportunty to restore some of the finest examples of classic French, German, and English bows. He takes great care to do thorough work and resurrect bows to their former glory.
